Details emerge around NCAA Football video game timeframe for release

In February, college football fans celebrated an announcement from EA Sports that a new college football video game is on the way.
Now a copy of EA Sportsโ proposal to FBS schools, which was revealed by Matt Brown of Extra Points, shows that the video game publisher is looking for a four-game license starting in 2023. The term begins on July 1, 2023 and ends on June 30, 2027.
There are implied raises in the overall royalty to the schools as well as higher โguaranteed revenue levelsโ from prior agreements. There are also different tiers of schools which mean different rates of royalties. Brown reported that some schools are already expressing disappointment with their tier in the proposal.
It was previously reported by ESPNโs Michael Rothstein, the game will be called โEA Sports College Footballโ (as indicated in the tweeted graphic) instead of picking up where the โNCAAโ series left off with โNCAA Football 14,โ released in 2013.
As name, image and likeness laws and policies evolve around the country, this is a prime example of how that issue could manifest itself.
Got another copy of the EA Sports/CLC proposal to FBS schools, dated Jan 15, with fewer redactions than previous copies. Here’s a bit more info on the money schools may make from the game:
