Devonte Wyatt, a defensive lineman on Georgia’s historic defense that fueled the national championship, is off the board in the first round of the NFL Draft.
Wyatt was taken No. 28 overall by the Green Bay Packers. And with that pick, the Bulldogs set a school record with 4 first-round picks.
Wyatt last season was an All-SEC first team selection, an Associated Press All-SEC second team pick, as he played in 14 of 15 games, and started all 14 of them. He is known as an elite interior pass rusher after Wyatt finished with 39 total tackles, which was tops among interior linemen at Georgia, and also had 27 QB pressures.
The 6-foot-3 and 315-pounder from Decatur, Georgia (Towers) previously played at Hutchinson Community College.
Coming out of high school, he was a 4-star prospect, and ranked as the No. 17 defensive tackle nationally, and the No. 27 prospect in the state of Georgia.
Through 28 picks, Georgia has as many players drafted tonight (4) as the entire ACC and Pac-12, and four more than the entire Big 12 (zero).
