Week 6 of the 2026 college football season featured a ton of entertaining games and intriguing storylines from across the country, but perhaps the funniest of all came from the D2 level when video emerged of a grounds crew spraying hilariously lopsided yard markers on the field.
The program in question was Winston-Salem State University Rams, an HBCU in North Carolina that was preparing to take on Maryland-based HBCU Bowie State University in their sixth game of the 2026 campaign.
Backlash obviously arose after seeing such careless grounds crew work ahead of an official college football game, leading Winston-Salem State Athletic Director Eric Burns to apologize for the incident.
Per Sports Illustrated, Burns apologized for the lopsided field lines and said that the university has added additional field prep support and implemented new quality checks to ensure that this type of thing does not happen again.
The Rams went on to drop the game in question against Bowie State by a final score of 21-0, moving their overall record on the year to 0-6 and their overall losing streak to 8 games going back to last season.
They will have a chance to secure their first win of the season and redeem their grounds crew this upcoming Saturday when they face off against fellow winless HBCU program Bluefield State at home.
