There are numerous big games on Florida‘s 2025 schedule, but one road trip will be extra special for DJ Lagway this fall.
During Wednesday’s SEC Media Days, Lagway was asked about UF’s Oct. 11 trip to Texas A&M. It’s a homecoming for Lagway, who played at Willis (Texas) High School, about a 70-mile drive to Kyle Field.
“I’m definitely excited to go back and play at Kyle Field,” Lagway said. “I’ve been to a lot of games there. It will be surreal. To have all my old teammates, coaches, teachers and classmates at my game, it will be fun.”
Last season, Lagway played against the Aggies and it’s a game he’d like to forget. In Florida’s 33-20 loss to Texas A&M, Lagway was 6-of-13 passing for 54 yards with 1 touchdown and 2 interceptions. His mark of 4.2 yards per attempt was his lowest of any 2024 game.
At that time, Lagway was coming in off the bench, as Graham Mertz was still the starting quarterback before his season-ending injury. When Florida visited the Lone Star State on Nov. 16 to play the Texas Longhorns, Lagway had to miss that game due to his own injury.
Lagway’s Lone Star State homecoming game should be a fun one. The game does not yet have a kickoff time, but is in the “Flex” window of 3:30-4:30 p.m. ET or 6-8 p.m. ET.
