Tua Tagovailoa has often been compared to New Orleans Saints QB Drew Brees, and on Wednesday, the NFL’s all-time leading passer (in yardage) weighed in on the Tide’s QB.

Brees admittedly hasn’t seen many Alabama games this season, but from what he’s seen, he could not be more impressed.

“I could not be more impressed because just in the times I’ve seen him play, it’s not like he’s just throwing it to really good athletes with a ton of space and they’re just running and making plays,” Brees said of Tagovailoa, per NOLA.com. “I mean, he’s making some legit throws down the field, he’s making some legit reads, just from what I’ve seen. So, I couldn’t be more impressed, especially if you go from his first game last year coming in in the middle of the national championship — are you kidding me? — and playing the way that he did.”

The Brees-Tagovailoa comparisons stem largely from their height (Brees listed at 6-foot while Tagovailoa listed at 6-foot-1) and playing style.

Tagovailoa no doubt faces his toughest test Saturday night against LSU. It’s a hostile environment against some of the best defensive backs in college football.

Through eight games, Tagoaviloa has thrown for 2,066 yards, 25 TDs and no INTs. He currently leads the nation with a 238.85 passer rating. Of his 62 total drives leading the Tide’s offense, Alabama has scored on 46 of those — field goals and TDs.
