Drew Lock in red non-contact jersey at practice, but OC Josh Heupel isn’t worried

One of the most important players for the Missouri Tigers this season is junior QB Drew Lock, who is in charge of running the Tigers’ fast-paced offense.
However, Lock may not be at 100 percent for Week 1, as he was wearing a red non-contact jersey in Thursday’s practice due to an injured left hand suffered when he hit it on a defender’s facemask.
But, according to KansasCity.com, second-year offensive coordinator Josh Heupel isn’t too worried about the star quarterback, saying the red jersey is merely a precaution:
“He’s fine,” Heupel said. “Green means go sometimes, so we’re putting red on him. Red means stop.”
Heupel’s comments should help put Mizzou fans’ minds at ease, but it’s still never good to be dealing with an injury, no matter how minor, at this point in the summer.
Mizzou opens the 2017 season on Saturday, Sept. 2, against Missouri State. If all goes according to play, Lock will guide the Tigers to a big lead and then spend the rest of the night on the sidelines.
