LSU’s Dupre shares frustrations on Twitter after bowl loss
By Ethan Levine
Published:
LSU freshman wideout Malachi Dupre did not catch a pass in the Tigers’ 31-28 loss to Notre Dame in the Music City Bowl, and didn’t have much to say following the game.
However, what he did say, especially on his Twitter page, indicated his frustrations with the bowl loss and the Tigers’ five-loss season in 2014.

The Tigers closed the regular season with the SEC’s worst pass attack, averaging fewer than 164 yards per game through the air. They completed just 7 of 14 pass attempts against Notre Dame for 151 yards, 96 of which came on just two catches.
Dupre caught just 14 passes as a freshman, but finished second on the team with 318 yards and five touchdowns.
UPDATE: A number of other LSU players followed Dupre’s lead and took to Twitter to vent their own frustrations as reports surfaced that defensive coordinator John Chavis was leaving LSU for Texas A&M.

Many consider Chavis’ reported move to be financially based. He stated earlier this year he was hoping to receive comparable money to new Auburn defensive coordinator Will Muschamp, who will earn $1.7 million in 2015.
Chavis earned $1.3 million at LSU this year, which made him the third-highest paid coordinator in the nation, and LSU has refused to offer him a raise this offseason.

For some key contributors to the defense, LSU’s stubbornness in its negotiations with Chavis are the inspiration for their post-bowl frustrations.
