Ed Orgeron says LSU needs an improved running game, full Tiger Stadium Saturday night

The LSU Tigers return to Tiger Stadium this weekend to face the Auburn Tigers but before they do, LSU head coach Ed Orgeron said that the Bayou Bengals need to fix a few things before facing Auburn and one of those things is the running game, which LSU has struggled with so far this season.
Orgeron shared his thoughts during his regular Tuesday visit with “Off the Bench” on ESPN Baton Rouge.
“We need to do more of the gap plays and RPOs, that’s going to be our strength. We still need to work on our wide zone, as far as our approach with the running backs. We’re still not getting the same thing that we want out of it, we’ve got a lot of work to do in the (running game). … We have to get better on production on first down to where it’s second and 5, second and 3. Not second and 10, second and 12.”
Another factor that may affect the game is the atmosphere in Baton Rouge Saturday night.
“I’m excited, and they deserve it, that’s why they came here, and we all love Tiger Stadium, and we all love our fans, it’s the best place in the world to play. It’s going to give us a big boost, we’re going to need it. As you know, Auburn’s a very good football team, but you know we’re playing at home, man, we love playing at home, and we’re going to need our crowd.”
Orgeron then sent a message to fans.
“It’s 8:00 so you gotta pace yourself, don’t start early,” he said. “We do that Tiger walk loud and proud and I want to thank all the fans. Want to thank the student section, they’ve been phenomenal. We expect Tiger Stadium to be full, man, and we’re going to need y’all. It’s a big game for the Tigers, can’t wait to see everybody Saturday night.”
Auburn and LSU haven’t played a night game in Baton Rouge since 2013, LSU won 35-21.
