The most anticipated matchup of the weekend in the SEC is taking place in Columbia when No. 8 Alabama takes on No. 14 Mizzou.
During a hilarious exchange on Wednesday’s SEC teleconference call, Missouri head coach Eli Drinkwitz jumped into the pool of reporters to ask Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer about his wardrobe for the game. Drinkwitz asked DeBoer if he was planning to wear the “black hoodie of death” against the Tigers.
“More than likely,” DeBoer responded.
SEC communications director Chuck Dunlap got into the mix on social media, noting that he hadn’t heard another coach ask a question during the weekly teleconference before.
Alabama is 12-2 when DeBoer wears the famed black hoodie. He had it on during Saturday’s 30-14 win over Vanderbilt at home. The Crimson Tide are 1-3 under DeBoer when he isn’t wearing the black hoodie.
Missouri hasn’t beaten Alabama since a 20-7 victory on Sept. 8, 1975. Drinkwitz has lost his 2 games against Alabama by a combined score of 72-19.
Figure on Missouri to lean heavily on its running game and defense to try to pull off the victory. The Tigers’ offense is third nationally in rushing yards (292.0) thanks to dynamic running back Ahmad Hardy. Missouri’s defense is tied for 16th nationally in points per game (14.6), with top performers including linebacker Josiah Trotter and safety Daylan Carnell.
Alabama at Missouri will kick off at 12 p.m. ET on Saturday (ABC).
