Eli Drinkwitz and Mizzou travel to Vanderbilt for Week 9, and a much-improved Vanderbilt team at that. The Commodores are ranked No. 10 in the country, their highest ranking since 1941.
For just the second time ever, “College GameDay” will broadcast live from the Vandy campus, setting up shop on the university’s Wyatt Lawn ahead of the 3:30 p.m. ET kickoff. It’s just the sixth time the show has been on the site for a game involving the Tigers and the first time since 2014.
The Commodores may be one of the most surprising teams in the country. But the fact that GameDay will be in Nashville doesn’t phase Eli Drinkwitz. He was asked on Tuesday if it “amplif(ies) the stage” on Saturday.
“Is it in First Bank Stadium? … Doesn’t affect anything then for us,” Drinkwitz said. “We’re the road team, so we’ll show up, we’ll go to the visitors’ locker room, we’ll walk out on the field and play the game.
“I don’t whatever else they’ve got for their fans there; it’s up to them. But it doesn’t affect us. I don’t even think they wanna talk to us.”
The message from Drinkwitz is clear: it’s business as usual on Saturday. And he and the Tigers will be looking to put a damper on what’s been a great story thus far.
