ESPN analyst highlights Georgia playmaker among nation’s top freshmen
Georgia playmaker Kaiden Prothro was among 10 freshmen highlighted in a new ESPN story that published on Thursday.
Prothro earned a mention as one of the “10 freshmen to know” ahead of a pivotal 2026 campaign for the Bulldogs. Prothro drew comparison to both Brock Bowers and George Pickens from ESPN’s Billy Tucker:
Listed at 6-6, 230 pounds, the five-star Prothro ranked as the No. 22 prospect and No. 2 tight end in the class. Yet, Georgia has opted to deploy Prothro’s massive catch radius as a slot receiver this spring. His fascinating combination of size and skill makes him one of the SEC’s most intriguing newcomers. Prothro could develop into a weapon much likeย Brock Bowersย at tight end orย George Pickensย at receiver.
There’s certainly opportunity for a player like Prothro to make an impact in Georgia‘s offense. The Bulldogs lost Zachariah Branch, Colbie Young, Dillon Bell and tight end Oscar Delp off of last year’s roster.
Prothro could play tight end or slot receiver for Georgia and has the potential to develop into a frequent target for quarterback Gunner Stockton.

Elsewhere on offense, Georgia is hoping for a breakout season from tight end Lawson Luckie. Returning receiver London Humphreys and incoming transfer Isiah Canion are also expected to have significant roles for the Bulldogs in 2026.
Georgia opens the season against Tennessee State on Sept. 5.
