Down to the very last plays of the College Football Playoff national championship game between Indiana and Miami, the 2025 college football season provided too many thrilling moments to easily recall.
Among them, according to ESPN analyst Bill Connelly’s best 100 games of the 2025 college football season, was Texas A&M’s torrid comeback victory over South Carolina on Nov. 15.
The Aggies’ 31-30 victory, which Connelly ranked No. 11 on his list, was the largest comeback in Texas A&M history – and was certainly necessary for them to make the 12-team College Football Playoff field.
Trailing 30-3 at halftime, Texas A&M rattled off 28 unanswered points in the final 30 minutes against a stunned South Carolina team that was celebrating heading off the field in College Station at halftime. And why not? The Gamecocks had forced two first-half Marcel Reed interceptions and also sacked the Aggies QB twice, and LaNorris Sellers dealt two first-half touchdown passes of his own.
The entire game shifted in the second half, however, as Reed went 16-for-20 for 298 yards and three third-quarter touchdowns as the Aggies gained 371 yards while allowing 76. Texas A&M didn’t even need the full 30 minutes to take a lead it would not relinquish, scoring all 28 points in 20 minutes of game play and holding on for the victory.
