ESPN’s Rod Gilmore has seen a lot in college football over the years. A regular-season game in which both head coaches were fired in the following days, however, was a new one for him.
Gilmore was on the call for Week 11’s Texas A&M-Mississippi State game. Texas A&M fired Jimbo Fisher on Sunday. Zach Arnett’s dismissal as Mississippi State head coach followed Monday morning. Gilmore reacted on social media.
Man! I do a game and both coaches get fired!

A fan called Gilmore “the Widowmaker” in response. Gilmore joked that he may not receive the warmest welcome in Fayetteville. He’s on the call for Arkansas’ game against FIU in Week 12.
I don’t think the staffs at FIU v Arkansas will be happy to see our crew this week. ? https://t.co/Rjec6l0fNy

Both teams are under .500 heading into Saturday’s game. Arkansas head coach Sam Pittman is considered to be on the hot seat as the Razorbacks are a disappointing 3-7 with just 1 win over a Power 5 club.
A loss to FIU would likely end Pittman’s tenure. The Razorbacks are 31-point favorites, according to ESPN Bet. Arkansas is given a 97.3% chance to win the game by ESPN Analytics.
Gilmore will call the game on ESPNU. It’s set for a 7:30 p.m. ET kickoff.
