ESPN experts update College Football Playoff projections after Week 6

Because 2 top-10 teams on Week 6’s college football slate tumbled, with No. 7 Penn State and No. 9 Texas absorbing road setbacks, there was some shuffling Sunday within ESPN’s College Football Playoff projections.

The Nittany Lions’ 42-37 loss at winless UCLA was the most shocking loss, though the Longhorns’ 29-21 loss at embattled Florida in an SEC game was also notable as it made room for Missouri to find a spot in the projections by several analysts and LSU making an appearance on one ballot.

A reminder: this year’s CFP will feature 12 teams. You do not have to be a conference champion to receive a first-round bye, but the 5 highest-ranked conference champions will still earn spots in the field.
