The ESPN College GameDay extravaganza announced Sunday morning that it will be in Tuscaloosa this weekend when No. 17 Alabama plays No. 18 Vanderbilt in the sequel to the Commodores’ 2024 stunner in Nashville.

The decision to park the College GameDay setup outside Bryant-Denny Stadium was no doubt made in combination of the Crimson Tide’s 24-21 victory oner No. 5 Georgia on Saturday night as well as Virginia’s Friday night double-overtime upset of No. 6 Florida State – dimming the shine a bit off the upcoming FSU-Miami matchup.

Alabama had just beaten Georgia last season to ascend to the No. 1 spot in the polls when it traveled to play Vanderbilt. The result – a 40-35 upset that marked the first time a Commodores team had ever beaten a No. 1 team in the country – began both a spiral for the Crimson Tide that saw them left out of the College Football Playoff picture as well as a rebirth for Vanderbilt.

The Commodores are 5-0 entering this week for the first time since 2008 and have scored 50-plus points in consecutive games for the first time since 1915. Quarterback Diego Pavia threw 5 touchdown passes and ran for another to lead Vanderbilt past Utah State 55-35 on Saturday.
