We had to wait an extra week this year, but college football fans will get a heck of a treat this Saturday when the Ohio State Buckeyes and Texas Longhorns go to battle in Week 2.
Last season’s matchup happened at 12:00 p.m. E.T. in Columbus. Ohio State prevailed 14-7 in that bout, which served as a springboard to an unbeaten regular season. In 2026, the contest gets its rightful place under the lights, with Austin serving as the locale as Texas seeks revenge.
ESPN’s Football Power Index supports the Longhorns, giving them a 59.6% chance to beat the Buckeyes. Kickoff between Ohio State and Texas is set for 7:30 p.m. E.T. on Saturday night (ABC).
Both quarterbacks from the 2025 meeting remain in place. Neither Julian Sayin — 13/20, 126 yards, 1 TD — nor Arch Manning — 17/30, 157 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT — lit up the stat sheet that afternoon. In fact, Manning was ridiculed pretty intensely for his showing. But, with Jeremiah Smith and Cam Coleman on their respective sidelines, they’re aiming for more gaudy numbers this go-round.
