ESPN’s FPI predicts the outcome of every game on Texas A&M’s 2026 schedule

ESPN’s FPI has delivered the preseason verdict on what Texas A&M will do in 2026 as an encore to its run to the College Football Playoff last fall.
The Aggies return dynamic quarterback Marcel Reed, and because of that the possibilities are endless for Mike Elko‘s program. But that 9-game SEC gauntlet awaits, and it’ll include big road tests against LSU, as well as Alabama and Oklahoma. Then waiting at the end of the regular season, of course, is the annual rivalry game against Texas, which will take place in College Station this season.
ESPN’s Football Power Index favors the Aggies in every game this season except 3 — that rivalry game against the Horns, and the visits to Baton Rouge and Tuscaloosa. Here is the game-by-game listing of how the FPI believes things might go in 2026 for the Aggies:
- Sept 5: Missouri State Bears | 98.2% chance to win
- Sept 12: Arizona State Sun Devils | 90.3% chance to win
- Sept 19: Kentucky Wildcats | 89.5% chance to win
- Sept 26: LSU Tigers | 43.4% chance to win
- Oct 3: Arkansas Razorbacks | 90.3% chance to win
- Oct 10: Missouri Tigers | 66.0% chance to win
- Oct 17: The Citadel Bulldogs | 99.8% chance to win
- Oct 24: Alabama Crimson Tide | 41.8% chance to win
- Nov 7: South Carolina Gamecocks | 69.5% chance to win
- Nov 14: Tennessee Volunteers | 72.0% chance to win
- Nov 21: Oklahoma Sooners | 50.1% chance to win
- Nov 27: Texas Longhorns | 34.9% chance to win
The FPI gives Texas A&M an implied win total of 8.46. If that numbers comes to fruition in 2026, it wouldn’t be enough to get the Aggies back to the Playoff, so perhaps the FPI will give Texas A&M something of a bulletin board material to place in its collective mind as it takes the field on Sept. 5 for the season opener at home against Missouri State (7 p.m. ET, ESPN).
Texas A&M’s stay in the Playoff last season was short and forgettable, as the Aggies were bounced at home in the first round by Miami. Here is what the Kalshi market is currently saying about Texas A&M’s chances to be right back in the 12-team field when it is announced in December:
