ESPN’s FPI predicts winner of Week 11’s SEC East battle between Tennessee and Mizzou

The No. 2 and 3 teams in the SEC East face off in Columbia, Missouri this Saturday at 3:30 p.m. on CBS. We’ll find out who is No. 2 and who is No. 3 soon after.

The Vols are fresh off a lopsided win over UConn, 59-3. Mizzou played a hard-fought game against Georgia but fell in Athens, 30-21.

Tennessee still has something to play for, though they may need some help. The Vols still have to face off against Georgia and have 2 SEC losses this season. If they can down Mizzou and Ole Miss can down Georgia, Week 12’s matchup will essentially be for the SEC East crown.

Of course, that’s a huge if on both fronts.

But ESPN’s FPI gives the Vols a better chance than not of at least holding up their end of the bargain. The metric gives Tennessee a 60.3% chance of picking up a road victory against the stout Tigers.

Missouri has other ideas. The matchup to watch in this one is definitely Missouri’s passing offense against Tennessee’s secondary without Kamal Hadden. The Vols have struggled in that part of the defense since Hadden’s shoulder surgery sidelined him for the season.

And while Brady Cook struggled some against Georgia, it’s hard to imagine he’ll have another bad game this Saturday. The Tigers signal caller is up to 2,471 passing yards with 16 touchdowns and 5 interceptions on the season. He’s averaging 274 passing yards per game, 4th most in the SEC.
