Live television is far from easy, and juggling the millions of tidbits involved in the annual NFL Draft makes it even more challenging. Which means even with a small army of researchers and mountains of notes on every available player canโt help a TV talent from making an embarrassing gaffe.
ESPN host Mike Greenberg found that out the hard way Friday night โ somehow mangling the family tree of Washington wide receiver Denzel Boston, who was taken No. 39th overall in the second round of the 2026 NFL Draft.
“You remember his dad, David Boston, first-round pick out of Ohio State in 1999,โ Greenberg atoned while an image of Boston celebrating with family was shown on screen.
One problem: Denzel Boston is not David Boston’s son. In fact, they’re not even related โ as Denzel was seated beside his father Chris. David Boston, a former NFL wide receiver, does have three children โ including son Brayden who is a highly touted Class of 2033 basketball player
Denzel Boston, who became the first wide receiver to be selected in the second round, amassed back-to-back 800-yard receiving seasons for the Huskies โ notching 63 catches for 834 yards and nine touchdowns in 2024 and 62 receptions for 881 yards and 11 touchdowns in 2025.
