The biggest matchup for week 3 in the SEC is, without question, going to be the top-15 tilt between the No. 15-ranked Tennessee Volunteers and the No. 6-ranked Georgia Bulldogs.
These two bitter rivals will be opening up their respective in-conference slates against one another on Saturday afternoon at the iconic Neyland Stadium, and ESPN’s Bill Connelly just released his SP+ projection for the matchup.
The SP+ is a model that Connelly puts together each week by using a number of key metrics and statistics to both produce power rankings for ESPN and to project the outcome of any given game.

According to Connelly’s projections, the Vols are expected to come out on top over the Dawgs by a final score of 25-24, a projection that Connelly himself was surprised by, which is why he put the question mark next to the final score in his tweet.
Shocking as it may be, though, the SP+ does have Tennessee coming out on top over Georgia for the first time in eight years by the absolute slimmest of margins.
Regardless of the actual outcome, though, this is sure to be an action-packed matchup between two hated rivals, and it could also end up having some serious SEC championship and College Football Playoff implications down the line.
