FCS quarterback smashes all-time record for consecutive completions in 1 game

The name Taron Dickens is now etched in the college football record books after his extraordinary game on Saturday.
The Western Carolina quarterback smashed an all-time record consecutive passes in a game during a 23-21 victory vs. Campbell. Dickens was tossing darts from the onset, completing his first 46 passes of contest.
The previous record for consecutive completions in a game was 29 by Princeton’s Quinn Epperly in 2013. Dickens connected with 8 different wide receivers during the record-breaking span and didn’t have an incompletion until the fourth quarter.
The 5-foot-11 sophomore ended up completing 53 of his 56 passes for 378 yards and 3 touchdowns. Dickens’ 94.6 completion percentage is also the highest completion percentage in an FCS game.
The Miami native has been phenomenal this season, with 13 touchdowns and no interceptions. Dickens already has more touchdown passes this season than last season (12). saw limited action in 2023 before getting the starting nod last season. The precise Dickens has only thrown 3 interceptions in his college career.
The victory moved Western Carolina to 3-3 overall and 2-0 in the Southern Conference. It’ll be fun to see what Dickens has in store for an encore next weekend when Western Carolina hosts Furman.
