Florida football added another late addition to its 2026 roster on Tuesday, landing a commitment from former JUCO cornerback Javier Jones.
Jones stands at 6-foot-1, 185 pounds and hails from Independence Community College (yes, the Last Chance U program) in Kansas. While there, he totaled 12 tackles and 5 PBU’s across 10 games played and will retain 3 seasons of eligibility for the Gators.
This is Florida‘s second late addition, right beside former Jacksonville State tight end Jaylen Jordan. Jones counts towards the 2026 recruiting class, pushing the class’s total to 20 players.
Florida isn’t the only SEC program that has done due diligence with Jones. After previously being offered by UTEP, Jones visited LSU in Baton Rouge but left without an offer. He committed to Florida after an official visit this past weekend.
Here’s a quick look at what Florida is getting in Jones:
Jones is not the first JUCO commitment for Florida this offseason. The Gators also added defensive back Elijah Owens out of Mississippi Gulf Coast C.C. following his commitment on January 7. Owens officially enrolled at Florida on January 12.
Jones is expected to enroll next week.
Ethan Stone is a Tennessee graduate and loves all things college football and college basketball. Firm believer in fouling while up 3.
