College football has been undergoing major changes over the past few years, both on and off the field, and rivalry weekend is one of the many aspects of the sport that has.been altered.

The final weekend of the college football regular season features the country’s biggest rivalries. However, some top matchups now take place on Black Friday instead of a traditional Saturday matchup.

It looks like the annual showdown between hated in-state rivals Florida and Florida State is the latest rivalry game to jump on this trend, with the Gators announcing on Monday that the 2026 Sunshine Showdown has been rescheduled for Black Friday on Nov. 27th.

Bitter rivals for 75 years, the Gators and Seminoles have met on the gridiron annually since 1958 in one of the sport’s most heated rivalries, a series that Florida leads 39-28-2.

Things have been pretty tight between the two programs over the past decade, with each holding 5 wins, but the Gators have gotten the better of the Seminoles as of late, currently on a two-game winning streak.

Now two of the premier programs in the state of Florida will be facing off on the busiest shopping day of the year for the first time since the 2022 season.

A kickoff time and TV designation for this game will be announced at a later date, per the school.
