Florida State quarterback to enter transfer portal, per report
Florida State quarterback Trever Jackson will enter the transfer portal when it officially opens next week, according to a report.
That news was first shared by 247Sports’ Matt Zenitz on Saturday evening. Jackson initially joined Florida State as a 4-star prospect in the class of 2024, but lasted just 1 season in Tallahassee before opting to move on in search of a new home.
Jackson went to Jones High School in Orlando, Fla. He arrived at FSU as the No. 394 overall player and the No. 26 quarterback in the country for the class of 2024, per 247Sports Composite rankings.
However, despite Florida State’s historically-disappointing 2024 campaign, Jackson did not see the field as a true freshman. Instead, game reps went to DJ Uiagalelei, Brock Glenn and Luke Kromenhoek. Uiagalelei and Kromenhoek have since departed the program.
Florida State is expected to start Boston College transfer Thomas Castellanos at quarterback this season. Glenn is also still on the roster, as is true freshman Kevin Sperry. Jackson likely would have been competing with Glenn for backup reps if he had decided to stay in Tallahassee for another season.
The transfer portal will officially open for all players on April 16.
