Former Alabama DL Phidarian Mathis had an unfortunate early ending in his first NFL regular-season game.
Mathis, in his rookie season with the Washington Commanders, had to be carted off the field in Sunday’s Week 1 game against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Walker was reportedly grabbing the back of his left knee after being rolled up on.

Mathis was with the Crimson Tide for 5 seasons (2017-21). He earned second-team All-SEC recognition for his 2021 season, which included 50 tackles, 10.5 TFL and 7.5 sacks.
In the 2022 NFL Draft, Mathis was selected No. 47 overall in round 2 by the Commanders. Hopefully, we see Mathis back on the field soon.
