The Ole Miss Rebels are currently preparing for their College Football Playoff semifinal showdown against the Miami Hurricanes in the Fiesta Bowl, but that isn’t stopping new head coach Pete Golding and his staff from hitting the transfer portal.

Golding and the Rebs have been linked to several names early on in the January transfer window, and they landed a big commitment on Monday from former Alabama Crimson Tide and Colorado Buffaloes’ defensive lineman Jehiem Oatis.

A highly-coveted 4-star recruit in the 2022 cycle, Oatis committed to the Tide coming out of high school over several other big-time programs, including Ole Miss.

Oatis saw significant playing time right away at Alabama, playing in 12 and 13 games, respectively, during his freshman and sophomore seasons with the Tide. He appeared to be primed for a breakout campaign in 2024, but injuries limited him to just 4 starts as a junior.

Following the setback, Oatis transferred to Colorado last winter as one of the best defensive linemen available, but had a limited impact for Deion Sanders’ team, racking up just 9 total tackles across 11 games.

Now down to his last year of college eligibility, Oatis will be looking to recapture the early form he had with the Crimson Tide under defensive guru Pete Golding for the Rebels in 2026.
