So, maybe Wednesday wasn’t as bad as we thought for former Alabama OT Cyrus Kouandjio.
The Bills released Kouandjio after three seasons in the organization Wednesday, and anytime you get fired or cut from a job, it’s usually a pretty dark and disappointing time; however, Kouandjio was baptized the same afternoon he heard the news, something he already had planned.
“So appropriate that I already had my baptism scheduled for this afternoon. Blessed by my time here in Buffalo and look forward to what God has in store for us @evzkouandjio,” the caption reads on his Instagram account.
It’s unclear if the bizarre incident with police last month had anything to do with his release, but it probably didn’t help. The Bills released Kouandjio due to a non-football injury designation. He suffered a hip injury at his home that required surgery this off-season.
In three NFL seasons, Kouandjio played in 25 games for the Bills, making seven starts. The 23 year-old still has talent and potential, and it’s likely he’ll get picked up by another NFL team looking for a tackle and hoping he can stay healthy and out of headlines.
Kouandjio was the 44th overall player picked in the 2014 NFL Draft, and he was a first-team All-SEC player with the Tide.
