A former Alabama quarterback is showing out for his new squad. Redshirt sophomore Dylan Lonergan has accomplished a rare feat to begin his time at Boston College, as he’s just the second ACC quarterback since 2000 to throw 8 touchdowns with no interceptions through the first 2 games of a season.
The 6-foot-2 Lonergan was selected as the ACC Quarterback of the Week after going 34-of-45 for 390 yards with 4 touchdown passes in Boston College’s 42-40 double-overtime loss vs. Michigan State last Saturday. In Boston College’s season-opening 66-10 victory vs. Fordham, Lonergan went 26-of-34 with 4 touchdowns through the air.
The Georgia native appeared in 3 games during 2 seasons with Alabama, completing 7 of his 8 passes for 35 yards, while rushing for 21 yards on 2 carries.
Lonergan arrived at Boston College as the No. 25 quarterback and No. 407 overall prospect in the transfer portal, according to 247Sports. Coming out of high school, Lonergan was the No. 26 player from Georgia and No. 16 quarterback in the nation.
Lonergan will look to help Boston College avoid a losing streak when they travel to the West Coast for an ACC matchup at Stanford on Saturday (10:30 p.m. ET/ACC Network).
