Former Auburn wide receiver Malcolm Simmons has committed to Texas Tech.
Simmons entered the portal earlier this offseason after spending the first 2 years of his college career at Auburn. He’ll now head to Lubbock where he figures to be the No. 1 receiving option on a team that hopes to contend for another College Football Playoff berth in 2026.
Simmons was a big loss for Auburn when he decided to enter the portal earlier this offseason. A former blue-chip recruit, Simmons totaled over 900 receiving yards over the past 2 seasons on the Plains. He split targets with Cam Coleman and Eric Singleton during his time with the Tigers as well.
Texas Tech was also among the programs who pursued Coleman in the portal, but lost out on his services to in-state foe Texas.
Auburn has already begun to rebuild its receiving corps for the 2026 season. Tigers coach Alex Golesh has earned transfer commitments from several former South Florida receivers, most notably Keshaun Singleton.
Auburn is expected to continue recruiting high-level talent in the coming weeks as Golesh puts together his first Auburn football roster for the 2026 campaign.
