Former Florida quarterback DJ Lagway will be checking out one of Florida’s fiercest rivals this weekend.

According to a report from ESPN’s Pete Thamel, Lagway is set to take a visit to Florida State on Sunday. The Seminoles are in the market for a new starting quarterback after Thomas Castellanos declared for the NFL Draft.

Interest between the 2 sides isn’t new. Earlier reports on Saturday stated that Florida State had been “in contact” with the former Gator. With a visit now on the books, it looks like the interest is mutual.

Lagway has also been linked to Mizzou, Baylor, Louisville, and Virginia since revealing his intention to end the transfer portal. Though Lagway’s 2 seasons at Florida were rocky, he remains a tantalizing prospect and is viewed as one of the top quarterbacks in the portal.

In 2 seasons with the Gators, Lagway appeared in 24 games with 19 starts. He left the program with 4,179 passing yards, 28 touchdowns, and 23 interceptions. In 2025, Lagway completed 63% of his passes with 16 touchdowns and a 6.7 yards-per-pass clip.

Florida State is coming off a 5-7 season. The Seminoles are also reportedly hosting former UNLV quarterback Anthony Colandrea on a visit during the same weekend, according to Thamel.
