Former Florida star Kadarius Toney was reportedly arrested in Georgia recently, including one charge of strangulation.
According to documents obtained by TMZ Sports, Toney was arrested in Douglas County on Feb. 6. He received one charge of aggravated assault/strangulation and a charge of obstructing/harassing 911 calls with a $25,000 bond for each charge.
According to TMZ, police documents put those charges on a Jan. 14 dispute with a woman in a Georgia residence. Toney is accused of putting his hand around the woman’s throat and squeezing with enough force “to cause her to be unable to breathe.”
The alleged incident left the woman with red marks on her neck and petechial hemorrhaging in her eyes. Toney is also accused of taking the woman’s phone during the incident to prevent her from calling 911.
Toney spent 4 seasons at Florida from 2017-20 where he accumulated over 2,100 yards of offense and was also utilized as a returner. His best season as a Gator came with 984 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns in the 2020 campaign before becoming a 1st-round selection of the New York Giants in the 2021 NFL Draft.
As a pro, Toney has not come close to living up to the hype, but he was a member of the Kansas City Chiefs during their 2022 and 2023 seasons that ended with Super Bowl rings. He appeared in 3 games for the Cleveland Browns in 2024.
