A former Georgia defensive lineman who was one of Kirby Smart‘s top recruits of the 2024 cycle will now play for South Carolina.

Jordan Thomas, who spent two seasons with the Bulldogs, has committed to the Gamecocks out of the transfer portal. Thomas, who will have three years of eligibility, told On3’s Hayes Fawcett of his decision on Tuesday.

Thomas was one of the nation’s leading defensive line recruits when he signed with the Bulldogs’ top-ranked class of 2024. According to 247Sports’ Composite, he was the No. 1 recruit in New Jersey and the nation’s No. 17 defensive lineman.

Despite Thomas’s recruiting ranking, he saw limited time on the field. Through three games of a redshirt season in 2024, he made four tackles and added 1.0 sacks. Then, in 2025, he was credited with two tackles and 1.0 TFLs in five games.

After entering the portal, Thomas will now head to South Carolina, where he’s Shane Beamer‘s fourth transfer commitment of the cycle. He joins offensive linemen Carter Miller and Hank Purvis, as well as wide receiver Jayden Gibson.

The Gamecocks played to a disappointing campaign in 2025. After going 9-4 and finishing in the top 25 in 2024, they stumbled to a 4-8 mark in 2025.
