Former Georgia star Bill Goldberg narrates hype video for Alabama showdown
Former Georgia standout defensive tackle Bill Goldberg is also a former professional wrestler, so he knows how to be dramatic.
On Friday night, on the eve of Saturday night’s epic showdown between No. 5 Georgia and No. 17 Alabama in Athens, Georgia football’s social media account dropped an intense hype video narrated by Goldberg. He was a 4-year letterman for Georgia from 1986-89, so Goldberg had a few showdowns himself with the hated Crimson Tide, and he was named a first-team All-SEC player in 1989, so Goldberg played at an elite level in Athens.
Many know him for his exploits in the wrestling ring, but those who bleed Georgia Bulldog black and red — and who are old enough, perhaps — remember Goldberg for what he did between the hedges in Athens. Goldberg was performing a different kind of entertainment with Friday’s hype video, which was fittingly titled “The Epicenter,” since Athens will be the epicenter of the college football world on Saturday night when the Tide and Dawgs get it on once again in a 7:30 p.m. ET kickoff on ABC.
Here is the 1-minute, 58-second chilling video that should get Bulldogs fans’ blood flowing for the titanic Week 5 showdown:
Goldberg probably wishes he could jump back into pads for Saturday night’s game and play for Kirby Smart, but in 2025 he’ll have to settle for setting the stage instead of being on center stage.
