Former Kentucky DB Jamari Brown, who entered the transfer portal less than two weeks ago, has announced his transfer destination.
A hamstring injury kept Jamari Brown out of the majority of games for Kentucky during the 2020 season. Now Brown has said on social media that he will play next season at Purdue. Brown started three games for the Wildcats in 2019, but the injury slowed him for much of 2020.
He thanked the Purdue coaches who recruited him, and added, “I look forward to helping build something great.”
In 2020, he played against Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Tennessee and NC State, and recorded a tackle in the bowl game against the Wolfpack.
Brown is a Sunrise, Florida native, and was rated the No. 74 cornerback and No. 845 overall prospect in the 2018 Class, according to the 247Sports Composite. His 14 offers coming out of high school included the likes of Auburn and Oregon.
He played in 11 of Kentucky’s 13 games in his redshirt freshman season, and started against Toledo, Eastern Michigan and Tennessee. He finished the year with 25 tackles, seven passes broken up — which finished second on the team — along with one tackle for loss and one fumble recovery
Brown leaves Kentucky after he appeared in 15 games, and it has the Wildcats’ secondary looking for experience after it’s also dealing with the loss to the NFL of Kelvin Joseph.
