Dooley officially lost his bid to become a US Senator on Tuesday night, falling to Mike Collins to a primary runoff. Dooley had been in the race to represent the state of Georgia in the US Senate.
According to NBC News, Collins garnered over 55% of the vote en route to victory. Dooley conceded the race in a statement on social media.
“While tonight wasnโt the result we were hoping for, Iโm incredibly proud of the campaign we built and thankful for the hundreds of thousands of Georgians who put their trust in me,” Dooley wrote in-part. “To every Georgian who supported us, attended a campaign stop, donated their time and money, or cast their vote for me at the ballot box โ I want to thank you.”
