Fun stat indicates LSU’s low number of draftees means future national championship

LSU is known for sending players to the NFL Draft. This weekend, however, only three former Tigers were among the 254 selections. It might mean that a national championship is on the way.
Tigers beat reporter Glenn Guilbeau shared a stat on Sunday that fans of the Bayou Bengals will love. The last two times LSU had only three players drafted were 2001 and 2005. Both instances preceded LSU winning the national championship two years later (2003, 2007).
Fans probably shouldn’t get “2021 national champions” tattooed just yet. It’s a rather small sample size which predates the College Football Playoff as well as the resurgence of division rival Alabama. But it’s certainly a fun stat and LSU happens to have the No. 1 recruiting class for 2020. Maybe some super sophomores will lead the Tigers back to the top.
Amazing Stat. The previous 2 times LSU had only 3 players taken in NFL Draft in 2001 and ’05, it won the national champ. 2 years later in 2003 and ’07 seasons. And top draft classes followed. LSU had 3 players drafted in 2019. So, national title in 2021?
