Georgia AD discusses football team’s new stance on transfers

Georgia’s transfer stance has been adjusted.
We found that out recently when running back A.J. Turman was given restrictions that he couldn’t transfer to Florida or Miami, two teams in his home state.
Under Mark Richt, UGA didn’t have transfer restrictions. Now, Kirby Smart is altering that, and UGA athletic director Greg McGarity discussed it with DawgNation.com.
“Kirby brought me up to date on this when we were discussing our stance, and so that stance has been adjusted,” McGarity said.
McGarity made sure to say that it’s not a new policy, per se, and added every case will be reviewed on an individual basis.
“We are not totally restricting transfer opportunities for our student-athletes. We will take each request on its own merit to determine if any restrictions should be placed on the release due to any extenuating circumstances. Student-athletes are afforded the opportunity to appeal the decision through the institution.”
