Georgia CB, former 4-star recruit, reportedly enters transfer portal after 2 seasons
Teams across the SEC have experienced the revolving door that is the transfer portal since it officially opened Jan. 2, and Georgia became the latest victim on Wednesday.
After not having seen the field at all through two years under Kirby Smart, cornerback Ondre Evans opted to enter the portal as CBSSports’ Chris Hummer reported.
Hailing from Nashville, Evans was a highly touted recruit coming of high school in 2024, rated a 4-star prospect by 247Sports’ Composite and the No. 2 overall prospect in the state of Tennessee.
Evans redshirted with the Bulldogs in ’24 before he tore his ACL during spring practice of 2025. That injury caused him to miss the entirety of the ensuing season, and it appears now that Evans is hoping for a fresh start within another program.
The 6-foot defensive back held offers from plenty of high-caliber teams coming out of high school, including LSU, Alabama, Michigan, Tennessee, Ole Miss and Missouri. However, the Bayou Bengals were the only other program Evans visited during his recruitment.
Still, with the immense depth and national pedigree of Smart and the Georgia defensive staff, it is unlikely that Evans’ departure will harm the Bulldogs too much in the long run.
