Georgia center Drew Bobo earns national Player of the Week honor for performance in Tennessee win
Georgia center Drew Bobo helped the Bulldogs pile up 502 total yards in last Saturday’s thrilling overtime victory at Tennessee, and 3 days later he was rewarded for being the anchor of that offensive onslaught in Knoxville.
Bobo was named the Outland Trophy National Player of the Week by the Football Writers Association of America. The son of Georgia offensive coordinator Mike Bobo, Drew Bobo was the rock that made all those yards and points possible. As it turned out, the Bulldogs needed every last one of them, as they were forced to outlast Tennessee in an SEC offensive showcase for the ages.
Because of Bobo’s efforts in the trenches, Georgia was able to win its SEC opener, stay undefeated on the season at 3-0 and move up 1 spot to No. 5 in the latest AP Poll.
Georgia football’s social media account celebrated Bobo’s honor with this post on Tuesday afternoon:
According to Pro Football Focus, Bobo’s numbers against Tennessee included 47 pass block snaps, 0 pressures allowed and an 85.0 pass block grade.
Bobo will have a chance to shine in another spotlight SEC game on Sept. 27, when after a bye week the Bulldogs host No. 14 Alabama.
