Georgia basketball dropped its season-opener to Oregon Monday afternoon in Las Vegas, 82-71.

The story of the game was shot making. Both teams suffered from a bit of early-season jitters, but Georgia especially really struggled out of the gate.

Mike White wants to take a lot of good looks from beyond the 3-point line and it showed in the box score. Georgia knocked down 10 of its 30 attempts from range while Oregon hit 6 of its 15 attempts. More doesn’t always equal better.

The Bulldogs also struggled to rebound and therefore had less opportunities at the basket with just a 33.3% FG percentage. That’s not going to win many ballgames.

There was some good from the opener, though. Freshman guard Blue Cain played very well off the bench, dropping 12 points with a pair of rebounds and a block.

Jabri Abdur-Rahim played well too, dropping a team-high 18 points with 5 rebounds.

Georgia is now 0-1 on the year and will next face off against Wake Forest this Friday.
