Georgia names team captains for Saturday’s game at Mississippi State

The 5th-ranked Georgia Bulldogs have named their captains for Saturday’s SEC matchup against Mississippi State (Noon ET, ESPN).

Georgia will affix the letter C on junior offensive lineman Monroe Freeling, senior defensive back Daylen Everette, junior wide receiver Zachariah Branch and junior inside linebacker CJ Allen for the trip to Starkville – where Georgia enjoys a 5-2 all-time record.

Freeling was named preseason All-SEC Third-Team by Athlon heading into this season after starting 4 games and appearing in all 13 of Georgia’s 2024 contests. Everette, a consensus preseason All-SEC First-Team pick, has 14 solo tackles, 28 total stops and 6 pass breakups so far in 2025.

A preseason All-SEC First-Team pick by the SEC media and the SEC coaches, Branch has caught 45 passes for 474 yards and 2 touchdowns in 2025. Allen, a consensus preseason All-SEC First-Team pick, has 30 solo tackles, 69 total stops, 3 sacks, 3 pass breakups, 2 forced fumbles and a fumble recovery in 2025.

Georgia holds a 21-6 all-time lead against Mississippi State – with 5 straight victories. Georgia downed Mississippi State 41-31 in Athens last season. The last time Mississippi State defeated Georgia was in 2010, a 24-12 victory in Starkville. The series began in 2914, a 9-0 Georgia win in Athens.
