Georgia and Alabama will meet between the hedges for the first time in a decade. And it could go a long way in determining the makeup of the College Football Playoff field.
The Bulldogs and Crimson Tide face off at Sanford Stadium on Saturday, with both teams idle during Week 4. Georgia will be looking to improve to 4-0 while Alabama, in its first SEC game of the season, hopes to avoid a second loss this early in the year with several challenging games still to go.
Circa Sports on Sunday released its opening lines, and the Dawgs are a slim favorite at -3.
This will be Alabama’s first trip to Athens since 2015. The Tide rolled past the Dawgs in that one by a 38-10 score as Derrick Henry ran 26 times for 148 yards and a touchdown while Calvin Ridley pulled in 5 catches for 120 yards and a score. They also forced 4 Georgia turnovers.
Since then, the programs have met 7 times, twice in the regular season and both times in Tuscaloosa. They’ve also played each other 3 times in the SEC Championship Game and twice in the CFP National Championship.
Kickoff from Sanford Stadium is set for 7:30 p.m. ET.
