Texas wide receiver Ryan Wingo turned in a solid 2025 campaign, hauling in 54 catches for 834 yards and seven touchdowns, and Longhorns fans are expecting even bigger things out of the rising junior heading into the 2026 season.
That sentiment is shared by college football analyst Greg McElroy, who points out that Wingo is likely to be even more productive in 2026 now that Texas has added transfer receiver Cam Coleman from Auburn into what was already a prolific Longhorns passing attack.
โEvery defensive coordinator is going to be trying to apply extra resources to one, which is going to open up opportunities for the other,โ McElroy said on his Always College Football podcast. โIf they look at Coleman, fine, Wingo will get single coverage. If you want to double Wingo, fine, Coleman will get single coverage. That is a really intriguing opportunity for this offense to know they have guys that can balance out the formation.
โSo if Steve Sarkisian is right and the world has forgotten about Ryan Wingo, we will find out and be reminded quickly and in a significant way this September.โ
Coleman caught 93 passes for 1,306 yards and 13 touchdowns in his two seasons at Auburn and is expected to blossom into a high-end NFL talent in Austin this season. Wingo is coming off offseason wrist surgery but is also expected to be a future Sunday threat.
