We’re less than 2 weeks away from the beginning of the 2025 college football season, so now’s the time for analysts to make their predictions. On Monday, ESPN’s Greg McElroy revealed his preseason top 25.
McElroy’s top 25 features 10 SEC teams, more than made the Coaches Poll. He’s sure to turn some heads with his selection of Clemson as the preseason No. 1.
Texas is the top SEC team in McElroy’s top 25. Alabama, Georgia and LSU are right behind. McElroy is also high on Texas A&M entering Year 2 under Mike Elko. Florida, Ole Miss and Tennessee, popular inclusions in many preseason rankings, also make McElroy’s top 25.
South Carolina fans are sure to take issue with the Gamecocks being left out. McElroy does, however, opt to include Oklahoma and Auburn. Gamecock fans may soon forget about McElroy’s snub as long as South Carolina is included in Monday’s preseason AP Top 25.
Here is McElroy’s top 25:
- Clemson
- Penn State
- Notre Dame
- Texas
- Alabama
- Georgia
- LSU
- Ohio State
- Oregon
- Miami
- USC
- Arizona State
- Texas A&M
- Michigan
- Oklahoma
- Florida
