The first official College Football Playoff rankings are just under a 2 weeks away from being revealed to the nation, but the field of contenders most likely to punch their tickets to the big dance come December is already beginning to take shape.
With the Playoff picture becoming clearer and clearer by the week, many analysts have begun releasing their updated CFP projections heading into the final stretch of the regular season, and this includes ESPN’s Greg McElroy.
The former Alabama quarterback turned college football color commentator just put out his revised College Football Playoff 12-team field prediction on X, and it featured all of the usual suspects that have been popping up on these kinds of projections the past couple of weeks.
McElroy has the Ohio State Buckeyes as the No. 1 seed and first bye, followed by the Alabama Crimson Tide at No. 2, Indiana Hoosiers at No. 3, and Texas A&M Aggies sliding in at No. 4.
Following them, he has the Oregon Ducks at No. 5 taking on the No. 12 USF Bulls, No. 6 Texas Tech taking on No. 11 Georgia Tech, No. 7 Miami taking on No. 10 Ole Miss, and then No. 8 Georgia facing off against No. 9 Notre Dame for his first-round matchups.
