The CFP selection committee, in case you’re unaware, is responsible for the CFP top 25 rankings, plus the 12-team College Football Playoff at the end of the regular season. The committee is made up of former coaches, players, journalists, administrative officials and more members of the college football world. Importantly, members of the committee are rotated across 3-year cycles to keep fresh perspectives.
Malzahn, then, is a worthy addition to the committee. The former Auburn coach boasts 35 years of coaching experience after playing for Arkansas and Henderson State as a wide receiver in the 1980s.
Currently retired from coaching after spending last season with Florida State, Malzahn has made stops at Auburn, UCF and Arkansas State. He was also an assistant coach for Arkansas, Tulsa and Auburn before landing the Tigers head coaching gig in 2013.
