Suffice it to say, but last year’s 54-46 loss in quadruple-overtime to Arkansas still sticks in the craw of Auburn head coach Gus Malzahn.
Auburn hurt itself with self-inflicted wounds — dropped passes, poor quarterback play — and thus fell behind early in the comeback.
Malzahn — a former walk-on at Arkansas and a native of the state — will get a chance to make up for last year against the Razorbacks this upcoming weekend.
While the loss still stings, the head coach has tried to keep things in perspective, as he told Auburn Undercover:
“Yeah, when you think about it it still makes me mad but that’s last year. You got to figure out a way – that’s history, there’s nothing you can do about it. Like I said, every year is different. This is a different team we have. We’ve got a lot of new guys. They’ve got some new guys. But, yeah, I try not to think about things I can’t control any longer.”
