Josh Heupel was rumored to be theย top choice to become Missouri’s next offensive coordinator, and several media reports seem to suggest he’s coming to Columbia.

Heupel, in just his firstย season as offensive coordinator atย Utah State, has been named the offensive coordinator under new Missouri head coach Barry Odom, according to several media reports, including the Salt Lake Tribune.

However, Dave Matter, the Missouri beat writer for the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, pumped the brakes on those reports.

Heupelย was the lead play-caller and co-offensive coordinator at Oklahomaย from 2011-14ย before coach Bob Stoops fired him following the 2014 season.ย Heupel’s replacement, Lincoln Riley,ย won the Broyles Award on Tuesday, which is awarded to the nation’s top assistant coach.
