Hugh Freeze continues to make changes to the Auburn coaching staff, and a second defensive coach is reportedly out on The Plains.

Cole Cubelic of WJOX and the SEC Network reported that defensive line coach Jimmy Brumbaugh will not be retained. It was previously reported that edge/outside linebacker coach Roc Bellantoni, who also coached special teams, would not be retained.

Brumbaugh played at Auburn and was an All-SEC selection. This was his first season on the Auburn coaching staff after he was a defensive line analyst at Oregon last season.

In 2019 and 2020 seasons, Brumbaugh was the defensive line coach at Colorado and the co-defensive coordinator/defensive line coach at Tennessee, where he was notably fired during the loss to Kentucky, according to multiple reports. Before joining the staff at Colorado, Brumbaugh was the co-defensive coordinator and defensive line coach at Maryland (2017-18).

He also coached at Kentucky, Louisiana Tech, Syracuse and was on the LSU staff for the 2007 national championship team, according to his Auburn bio.
