Hugh Freeze continued to make moves to build his new staff at Auburn, and the new coach has reportedly parted ways with a defensive assistant.

Edge/outside linebacker coach Roc Bellantoni will not remain on the staff, Keith Niebuhr of Auburn Live reported.

Bellantoni was brought in by former head coach Bryan Harsin as a defensive analyst. After a year in that role, and the NFL move by former edge coach Bert Watts, Bellantoni was promoted to the job. He was also named the Special Teams Coordinator in place of Watts.

Bellantoni has 28 years of coaching experience, including 15 years as a defensive coordinator and another four years as a special teams coordinator.

Bellantoni turned heads for his recruiting prowess, especially in Florida during the brief Harsin tenure.

Freeze’s first move from a staff standpoint came with the hire, and promotion, of Cadillac Williams to associate head coach.
